Chips ConnectOne

Offload TCP/IP and SSL3 protocols from your host controller with our secure, embedded Internet connectivity chips. iChip acts as an embedded firewall between the application and the network.

iChip IP enabling chips represent the easiest and fastest way to add secureTCP/IP  protocol to an embedded design

Key Features & Benefits of iChip CO2128
    • Designed for secure IP connectivity: acts as a firewall between the application and the network
    • Supports SSL3/TLS1 protocol for secure sockets, HTTPS and FTPS
    • Up to 10 simultaneous TCP or UDP sockets, two listen sockets, Web server with two Web sites, RAS server, SMTP and POP3 clients, MIME attachments, FTP and Telnet clients, and SerialNET™ mode for plug-and-play functionality
    • Supports dial-up, cellular, WiFi or LAN connectivity (according to firmware flavour)
    • Locally updateable firmware – IP stack and Internet configuration parameters are stored in separate flash memory
    • Many hardware interfaces: USB 2.0 host and device, external bus, high-speed parallel, SPI, two-wire, and USARTs
    • Includes 10/100BaseT Ethernet MAC
    • Includes Random Number Generator and support for SHA-1/256, AES 128/192/256, and 3DES encryption in hardware
    • Power-efficient: the core operates at 1.2-volts, while I/Os operate at 3.3-volts (typically 190 mW)
    • Sleep mode further reduces power consumption
    • Routing capability and optional soft modem (available during H2, 2007)
    • Firmware is backward-compatible with iChipSec CO711AG
    • Operates in the industrial temperature range at 48MHz
    • Packaged in a 128-pin LQFP form-factor (14 x 20 x 1.4 mm)
    • RoHS-compliant

iChipSec CO2128 provides a high-performance IP connectivity solution for devices that need security, will run high-speed applications, and need to keep power consumption to a minimum.
The chip offers you maximum hardware configuration flexibility, because it includes many interfaces to the host processor and communication peripherals, including USB 2.0 host and device, high-speed parallel bus, two SPI, one two-wire, and two USART interfaces.  The high-speed parallel interface enables throughput up to 32Mbps.
Security features include a true hardware random number generator (supports FIPS 140-2), SHA-1/256, configurable AES key size (128, 192 or 256 keys), and 3DES, all with Peripheral DMA Channel. The chip supports multiple Certificate Authorities and both client-side and server-side authentication.

CO2128 includes 256KB SRAM onboard and requires external flash memory from which it can boot and execute when using the external bus interface. Connect One will provide several firmware flavors, each of which determines the chip's functionality.  By changing the firmware flavour, you can turn a chip that supports modem access into a chip supporting LAN access, for example.
Routing capability among LAN, WiFi and modems, and an optional soft modem will be available during H2, 2007 Internet Protocols
